Stop riding. Do not ride with the motor on until the throttle returns to rest normally.
What it means
Bafang's dealer manuals list 05 as the throttle not returning to its rest position. On some older Bafang-protocol displays 05 is described as a general throttle fault.
Likely causes
- Throttle held open when switching on
- Throttle sticking
- Damaged throttle or connector
Symptoms
- Code 05 shows
- Motor will not start or may pull unexpectedly
How to fix it
- Let go of the throttle and switch the bike off.
- Check that the throttle springs back freely.
- Check the throttle connector is pushed fully home.
- Switch the bike off, wait 10 seconds and switch it on again.
- If the code stays, have the throttle replaced by your dealer.
How urgent is it?
A stuck throttle can make the bike move on its own.
