TOP-SPEED: Top speed / class
Change assisted top speed (not on all models).
What it does
Lets you raise or lower the assisted top speed on supported bikes. Aventon notes that going above 20 mph turns the bike into a Class 3 e-bike and you cannot exceed the bike's stated top speed.
Before you change it
- Legal: US e-bike classes are Class 1/2 (assist to 20 mph) and Class 3 (assist to 28 mph, throttle limited). EU/UK/AU/NZ pedelecs are limited to 25 km/h assist and 250 W. Raising the limit above what your local law allows can make the bike illegal on roads, paths and trails and can void your warranty and insurance.
