Can I ride home with this error?
Ride with caution. Assistance may be switched off, but Bosch says you can always keep pedalling without the motor.
What it means
The eBike is outside its allowed temperature range, so the drive unit may switch off assistance.
Likely causes
- Drive unit too hot (long climbs, heat)
- Drive unit too cold
Symptoms
- Code 540 on the display
- Assistance switches off
How to fix it
- Switch the eBike system off.
- Let the drive unit cool down or warm up to a normal temperature (shade or indoors).
- Switch the eBike system off, wait a few seconds, then switch it on again.
- If the code comes back, contact your Bosch eBike dealer.

Let it reach normal temperature; see a dealer only if it keeps happening.
